The Ink House Editorial

Does my book need to be finished for you to edit it?

Yes, your book should be complete and as clean as you can make it on your own before you send it to me. This usually means it should be at least two or three drafts in. This is as much for you as it is for me. It isn’t helpful to you if I spend most of my time pointing out things you’re already aware of!

What if I want to book multiple edits with you?

If you want multiple edits with me, I’ll give you a discount on each added service. However, I do recommend booking only one service at a time.

What service should I start with?

You should start with either a manuscript evaluation or a developmental edit. To learn more, see my

Do I need a copy edit after a line edit?

It depends. If your manuscript is fairly clean when I receive it, I can conduct copy edits in tandem with the line edit. However, if your prose needs a little more attention, I won’t be focusing as much on the copy elements. In that case, you may need a copy edit in addition to the line edit (at a discounted price).

Do you edit every genre?

No. I’m not as well-versed in romance, thrillers, sci-fi, horror, religious books, or children’s literature, so if you write in one of those genres, I’m probably not the editor for you. If you’re not sure if your book falls into a genre I edit, feel free to send me an email via the contact page.

Additionally, please do not send me any zionist or pro-Israel work, or anything written with generative AI.

Will you fact-check information in my novel?

I’ll fact-check almost everything. However, if you’re writing historical fiction or a book that relies heavily on politics, I won’t be able to thoroughly research your topic to make sure that everything is accurate.

My book features explicit sex, extreme profanity, disturbing imagery, etc… will you still work on it?

Yes, as long as your book does not promote bigotry or hate speech.

What if I don’t agree with your edits?

Books are long, and your vision for your book is very personal. It’s quite likely that I'll make a comment or suggestion that you don’t agree with. For a line edit or a developmental edit, the service includes a lengthy call during which I’ll answer any questions you have. This is the time to bring up anything you don’t agree with. I’ll explain why I made the edits I did, and if you still think that doesn’t suit your vision, then simply reject the edit! It’s your book. You’re in charge of what goes into it.

Will my book be covered in red if I book a line or copy edit?

Technically, no. I find the red a little jarring, so I conduct my track changes in blue (it feels less aggressive). However, there will be a lot of blue in your document if you book a line or copy edit. It’s my job to make your work as clean as possible, so I’ll edit your book very thoroughly. And even if there are a lot of comments in your document, remember that a good chunk of those will be praise!

Is there a chance you'll refuse to work with me?

Only if you write in a genre I don’t edit, if your book supports zionism, if you used generative AI to write your novel, or if you’re sending me a first draft or an incomplete novel.

Will you be a sensitivity reader for me?

While I will point out any lines, scenes, or plot points that seem like they misrepresent a population, I am not a sensitivity reader, and I cannot comment on the accurate representation of most minority communities. I recommend finding a sensitivity reader who specialises in and belongs to the community you are writing about.

How do I pay you?

I require a 50% deposit when you send me your manuscript, and will accept the rest of the payment upon delivery of the manuscript. I take payments by bank transfer.
